Have you heard about the new charity for Richmond?

OneRichmond is being set up by founding partners Hampton Fund and RPLC both highly regarded as significant grant-makers with a long history and grassroots knowledge of your local community.

Why a new charity for Richmond?

Research undertaken by RPLC and Hampton Fund found that Richmond is seen as a wealthy borough, however, this masks the hidden deprivation and disadvantage within our community. This impacts on investment coming into the borough, which creates an even greater divide between wealth and disadvantage.

The good news is that we’re on a mission to address this.

We want to bring the local community together for the greater good.

We want to work to improve the lives and opportunities of disadvantaged and vulnerable people across the borough and immediate surrounding areas.

We want to level the playing field.

How will we do this?

We started by looking at the data. It’s like taking the temperature of the whole borough, and our focus is to look at the lives behind the numbers to drive impact and reduce disadvantage.
Evidence is at the heart of what we do.

What have we done over the last year?

We’ve been busy working behind the scenes to get OneRichmond up and running! Establishing good governance is our priority and we are registering as a new independent charity with the Charity Commission.

We are delighted to have a new board of experienced and knowledgeable trustees.

We have listened to the needs of you, our community, and commissioned an analysis of existing publicly available data, which will support and inform our work.

And our small team is growing! We have been joined by a Fundraising and Communications Lead to support our journey.

What happens next?

We will continue working with our trustees to identify and guide our early priority themes which will help build awareness of our mission; support new funding opportunities and challenge the misconception of Richmond as a wealthy borough.

We will support, champion and amplify the voices of all charities working to support vulnerable communities across our borough.
