Citizens Advice Richmond

Helping people through financial crisis
Thanks to a £40,000 grant from OneRichmond, Citizens Advice Richmond has been able to support nearly 300 people across Richmond facing financial difficulties.
Working through often complex issues, the team provide compassionate, tailored advice and support with managing debt, household budgeting and applying for benefits, helping individuals and families find long-term and sustainable solutions to regain control of their finances. In the last year, the team has helped households secure £288,000 in additional income – an average of £970 per household.
One client, who originally sought help with Council Tax arrears, saw a complete turnaround. With the support of the Citizens Advice team, he successfully applied for Personal Independence Payments, received a reduction in Council Tax, and had over £7,000 in arrears written off. He also gained valuable budgeting skills to help manage his bills more confidently.
By increasing the number of local outreach venues, the team has now expanded its reach, making it easier for residents to access support. And by creating a welcoming, non-judgmental environment, they hope more people will seek help earlier and avoid future crises.
“We are very grateful to OneRichmond for funding this project. Their support has been invaluable.”
