Fundraising Dinner Supporting the Fight Against Homelessness

Date: Thursday 23rd April 2026, 7pm

Location: Bingham Riverhouse, TW10 6UT

This is a charity dinner organised by OneRichmond and chaired by our Development Board member, Ritu Mahandru. This will be a 90-person ticketed event (£150/ticket) with an auction and raffle on the night to raise funds for local charities and initiatives to combat homelessness. The dinner will be in partnership with local charities working to combat the root causes of homelessness and support those on the edge of or experiencing homelessness, including the Vineyard Community Centre.

Based on the most recent estimates by outreach workers, there are 85 people sleeping rough in the Richmond borough. 662 households were either threatened by or experiencing homelessness in 2023/24, a number which has more than doubled since 2020. An additional 537 households are in temporary accommodation secured through the local housing authority, which is above average for England.

Homelessness is more than rough sleeping. It is also living in temporary or emergency accommodation, including shelters, hotels, staying with family or friends, and sofa surfing. Those leaving institutions (e.g., hospital, prison) with no accommodation to return to; asylum seekers and refugees waiting to be accommodated; and those unable to remain in or access their current accommodation due to domestic violence, inappropriate conditions, eviction or other legal reasons are all considered to be homeless. To combat homelessness we must not only support those who are currently homeless, but also those who are on the edge of homelessness.
